On February 27-28, 2025 researchers and experts gathered in Luxembourg, for the 2nd Specialist Workshop on Geoprivacy for Personalized Health. Co-organized by Dr. Eun-Kyeong Kim from LISER and Professor Grant McKenzie,  this year’s workshop continued the conversation on privacy-preserving methods in health and mobility research. This year’s workshop was hosted by LISER, and special thanks go to Dr. Eun-Kyeong Kim, who took on the bulk of the organizing effort to make the event a success. From curating an engaging program to managing logistics, her dedication ensured a productive experience for all participants.

Following the success of the inaugural workshop in Montreal in September 2024, this second iteration saw 20 participants engaging in two days of rich discussions, hands-on tutorials, and breakout discussion sessions. The workshop was hosted in a fantastic collaborative environment, bringing together researchers from academia, industry, and policy sectors to explore new geoprivacy challenges and solutions in the context of personal mobility and health data.

The agenda covering key topics such as privacy-preserving data sharing, legal and ethical frameworks, federated learning in health research, and AI-driven geoprivacy solutions. Participants had the opportunity to present their work, exchange ideas, and explore potential research collaborations that will shape the future of privacy-aware health and mobility analytics.  A number of publications and policy documents are in the works.

A huge thank you to all who participated and contributed to making this workshop an engaging event. Stay tuned for future updates and opportunities to be involved in the evolving discussion.
