A successful GIS day

gisday / mapathon / openstreetmap

GIS Day 2016 at the University of Maryland, College Park was a success! In the morning session, participants registered for OpenStreetMap accounts and started the process of mapping via the MissingMaps HOTOSM task manager. Jon Froehlich from the computer science department and HCIL was also on-hand to introduce Project Sidewalk. In the afternoon, Rachel Levine from the American Red Cross and Kelley O'Neal from the UMD Libraries gave a quick introduction and tutorial on the Missing Maps project. Rachel also mentioned a mobile app that I hadn't heard of before, but is really quite interesting, MapSwipe. Check it out if you haven't already.
